A resident of Bagshot Row and simple gardener of the Shire, young Hobbit, Samwise Gamgee was to accompany Frodo Baggins, at the insistence of Gandalf, on his perilous quest for Mordor. Sam had a stout heart and generous spirit, and of all the members Fellowship of the Ring, he had the strongest affection for their tenth member, Bill the pony. Acquired by the company in Rivendell to carry their the needed stores, Bill the Pony would eventually have to be let go at the gates to the Mines of Moria, that was no place for a pony. This Samwise Gamgee and Bill the Pony statue depicts the kind of care that Bill the Pony received from the kind-hearted Sam Gamgee.
