About the designer: Sayuri

Sayuri is an artist with a background in visual arts and modeling, and a former art director at Dentsu (Japan).

She has long been involved in TV commercials and art direction for brands such as Shiseido, Daiichi Sankyo and KOSÉ.

In 2016, she founded her own handcrafted figurine studio in Osaka, with the ambition of fusing cinematic aesthetics and character design, creating articulated female figurines with a strong visual identity.

She specializes in sculpting the female face, rendering subtle expressions and body language, achieving a rare balance between mobility and artistic expression. Her work is highly prized by collectors.

About Mizuhara Mio

When creating Mizuhara Mio, our priority was clear:

“His face had to be alive.”

We meticulously adjusted proportions, facial expressions, contours - until we achieved that special feeling of “the suspended moment when she meets your gaze as you look down”.

Her eyes are mobile, allowing her gaze to be adjusted according to the angle of exposure. Paired with a custom-designed wool wig, each pose or change of outfit reveals a new facet of her.

Whether on static display or integrated into a narrative staging, Mizuhara Mio will immerse you in her own world of emotions and stories.

We believe that a face that can “speak” to you is the very essence of a figurine's soul.

Concept and inspiration

This series of figurines is inspired by real-life crime stories, blending reality and fiction.

With strong character design, it creates an articulated work full of dramatic tension and storytelling.

Unveiled for the first time at the Wonder Festival Tokyo - Winter 2025, it generated a great deal of interest and discussion.

The freely inspired face was created with soft features, refined charm and elegant feminine curves.

An imposing mechanical arm was added to create a striking contrast between softness and technological coldness, giving this character a unique sci-fi aura.

The work contains many hidden details and narrative elements to be discovered as it is explored and manipulated, offering an immersive, interactive and multi-dimensional experience.
