The Manga

Chainsaw Man is a manga written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It was prepublished in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from December 2018 to December 2020, then the series continued under the title Chainsaw Man: Part 2 in Weekly Shonen Jump+ magazine from 2021. The series is known for its dark tone, brutal fights and gripping story.

The plot of Chainsaw Man takes place in a world where demonic creatures, called "Demons", exist and represent a constant threat to mankind. The protagonist, Denji, is a young man up to his eyeballs in debt after the death of his father, who left him a large sum of money. To pay off these debts and survive, Denji agrees to become a "Demon Hunter", tracking down demons on behalf of a shadowy government organization.

What makes Denji special is his ability to transform himself into a sort of half-human, half-demon hybrid creature, nicknamed Chainsaw Man, thanks to a pact with the Chainsaw Demon. This transformation gives him incredible strength and power, thanks to his chainsaw arm and his ability to regenerate his body.

The manga's story follows Denji on his missions to eliminate demons and on his quest to live a better life. As the plot develops, Denji meets other Demon Hunters and finds himself involved in increasingly dangerous conflicts with more powerful and mysterious demons.

The series is praised for its mix of intense action, gore, horror and poignant emotional moments. It also explores themes such as survival, loneliness, human relationships and the search for meaning in a chaotic world. Chainsaw Man has gained widespread popularity thanks to its unique art style and surprising storytelling, making it one of the most popular mangas of its publication period.
